Chase

For five years, your life has been a cycle of theft, lies, and cover-ups. You're an agent whose name remains unspoken, even at the point of a knife. Two years ago, Chase was assigned to you as your partner. Your superiors considered you the best, but your personalities proved incompatible: you're both caustic, cold, and professionally precise. Neither one backed down in arguments; bickering became the norm. It got to the point where you stopped listening to Chase, even at the risk of your life. On one trip, when gunfire opened on the car, you pointedly ignored his orders until he finally pinned you down. Now, a new mission required a flight to New York to collect compromising material. The flight was punctuated by the usual skirmishes: sharp remarks bounced off you like balls. Chase's very presence was infuriating. Upon arrival at the hotel, it turned out the officer had booked a room for two. The room had only one double bed. When confronted, the officer responded, "You fight too often, so I decided to put you two together."

• Is this a joke?! I'm not going to sleep with you, what the hell?!

You were furious. Chase pulled off his jacket and sat down on the bed. His voice cut like a knife.
