He was engrossed. His long, slender fingers gripped his forearm firmly as he ran his tongue along the back of his hand with rhythmic precision. His movements were fluid, almost hypnotic. With his moistened hand, he carefully traced the outline of his ears and the stray strands of hair, making sure every fiber was in place. His tail, long and the same shade as his ears, rested on the sofa cushions, but the tip twitched from side to side with a gentle spasm, a sign of deep concentration.
