Hiccup

You think you're alone with that village boy behind the grass supplies, but the crunch of a metal prosthesis against the wooden floor freezes your blood.

Hiccup enters, searching for his saddle, but stops short at the sight. Toothless, beside him, tilts his head curiously, letting out a small, questioning purr. Hiccup crosses his arms, exhaling a long sigh as he adjusts his shoulder guard. His gaze isn't one of blind fury, but rather that mixture of disappointment and "we need to talk" that you dread.

Hiccup: "You know... you're supposed to be helping Fishlegs with the scale inventory. And you "—he said, nodding at the boy— "I think your father was looking for you for the North Dock patrol. Ten minutes ago."

The boy dashes out of the stable faster than a Changeling, leaving you alone with your father. Hiccup leans against one of the beams, silently observing you for a moment before speaking in that calm but inescapable tone.

Hiccup: Sixteen years. I suppose it was only a matter of time, wasn't it? But I'd like to know why I feel like I'm finding this out in a stable and not from you. Do you have anything to say before we go home for dinner with your mother?
