Kisuke Urahara

In the Soul Society, Aizen talks about how Urahara created a gigai that lacked reishi. But much later, it's revealed that he was banished for using the hogyoku to repair Shinji and the others, as well as keeping them away from the 13 divisions of the royal guard who wanted to execute them.

Bankai: Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame (観音開紅姫改メ, Crimson Princess Dissection Modification at the Gates of Avalokiteśvara; Viz "Open Red Princess Neo") states that her Bankai has the ability to "restructure" anything it touches or that is within the radius of influence of her ability. She opens and "restitches," leaving visible stitches where she does so, being able to dismantle Askin Nakk Le Var's arm from a medium distance, as well as restructure Urahara's destroyed eyes. Even an area sealed by the Gift Ball Deluxe was restructured, creating a passage through which Urahara led Grimmjow for a surprise attack on Askin Kamisori. Benihime (剃刀 紅 姫, Razor, Crimson Princess): Fires an arc-shaped energy beam; these arcs can cut through any material and can change trajectory at any time.
Tsuppane, Benihime (突ッ撥紅姫, Rejection, Crimson Princess): After analyzing the reishi composition and the subjective movements of the muscles, he simply draws a circle of energy with the blade capable of canceling other attacks.
Shibari, Benihime (縛り紅姫, Crimson Princess of the Bond): This technique creates a condensed crimson net and throws it at the opponent; this technique serves to restrict the opponent's movements.
Hiasobi, Benihime, Juzutsunagi (火遊紅姫数珠繋, Crimson Princess Frilled Mesh): After using Shibari, Benihime, Urahara stabs the blade of his sword, causing several explosive nodules to appear in the mesh. Upon contact with the opponent, they explode. This explosion is capable of destroying several buildings at once.
Kirisaki, Benihime (切り裂き紅姫, Destroy, Crimson Princess): After creating Chikasume no Tate, several energy projectiles are fired. Nake, Benihime (啼け紅姫, Sing, Crimson Princess): This technique is based on firing massive energy from the blade and is comparable to Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou or an Espada-level Cero. The greater the amount of energy accumulated, the stronger the blow.
Chikasumi no Tate (血霞の盾

Benihime (紅姫, Crimson Princess; "Red Princess"): A blade described by Urahara as "not cool," also one of the few known Zanpakutō with a female spirit (being owned by a man). When sealed, Benihime appears as a beige-colored shikomizue (a blade hidden inside a cane) with a curved handle. As the blade resides in a cane, the cane's handle is still the hilt and the shaft is the sheath, causing it to still operate like other Zanpakutō. The base of the shaft also has a skull and flame mark at the bottom, which is capable of separating souls from the body by pressing the mark on it. When still serving in the Gotei 13, Benihime was originally sealed in a standard katana form with a black sheath that Urahara wore under his sash. It had an oval tsuba with a snowflake design engraved on it with a black hilt wrap.

In Shikai form, the cane-shaped handle reverts to resembling a normal grip, albeit somewhat worn, with pieces of red fabric hanging from it. The handguard also turns red due to the same type of fabric. The blade is silver on the edge and black on the back.

Enhanced Agility: Despite his more laid-back attitude, Kisuke is an extremely agile fighter. In battle, he can effectively use his agility to exploit the battlefield to his advantage, leaping from wall to wall to keep his opponents guessing about their attack patterns. Offensively, his agility grants him great prowess in battle, allowing him to attack his opponent from multiple angles with great precision and power.

Enhanced Durability: Despite not having the most imposing appearance, Kisuke proved capable of withstanding great amounts of punishment. During his days as captain of the 12th Division, he was regularly attacked by his then-lieutenant Hiyori Sarugaki. Each time, he endured the attacks with indifference, if not laughter, with little to no real effect on himself. His durability even made Hiyori more careful about how she would hit him, if she didn't want to hurt herself instead.

Master Assassin: As a former high-ranking member of the Onmitsukidō, Kisuke possesses a high level of mastery in the art of stealth combat. He has repeatedly demonstrated an impressive ability to remain hidden and invisible while maneuvering towards his target. During his battle against Yammy, he was repeatedly able to catch his opponent completely off guard. Even individuals as perceptive and intuitive as Aizen were caught off guard.

Master strategist and strategist: Despite his indifferent and nonchalant appearance, Urahara has repeatedly shown himself to be a very perceptive and astute man. He also possesses great intuition, able to quickly become aware of any approaching danger and react in time. Urahara has an undeniable talent for thinking things through well in advance, making decisive and accurate decisions quickly in battle, and being able to perceive any situation at hand. He has generally shown himself to be a shrewd strategist by the ease with which he deceives allies and enemies. He has also demonstrated himself to be a very perceptive and analytical man, as he is able to quickly analyze an opponent's power and attack patterns to render them useless against him. He easily maneuvers and deceives Aizen on two instances in their fight.
Enhanced Strength: Urahara's physical prowess has proven to go beyond flashy abilities. During his time as commander of the Detention Unit, he was shown capable of effortlessly stopping a giant man's punch with a single hand. During his training with Ichigo, his attacks displayed enough power to create fairly large craters and easily launch the younger fighter several meters and through solid rock.

Enhanced Speed: Kisuke has demonstrated tremendous speed and reflexes in battle. Even when caught off guard by an enemy's attack, he is shown capable of reacting in time to skillfully dodge or counter-attack. Offensively, he is shown capable of maintaining a quick and rapid attack that forces most opponents into defense, as he leaves no openings in his attacks.

Master Scientist/Inventor: As the founder and former head of the Shinigami Research Institute, Urahara is a talented inventor and scientist, having created a number of devices or techniques to aid him in battle or otherwise. His high intellect is evident in this field, having created some of the most incredible things in the history of the Soul Society. Because he has been inventing and creating things since before becoming a full member of the 2nd division, he is able to create his inventions in a fairly short period of time. His knowledge has led him to an innate understanding of the abilities of others, as well as what happens when independent variables are introduced into an equation. Urahara was able to figure out how to restore Ichigo's Shinigami powers seventeen months after he lost them.

Keikaigi (繫界儀, "World-Tying Rite"): The technique connects space by tying together the living world and Hueco Mundo to create a Gorge. The opening is generated between two large wooden posts that project from two large rock formations.
Immense spiritual power: As the former captain of the 12th Division, Urahara possesses a vast amount of spiritual energy. His energy is intense enough to make opponents with equally high energy levels sweat with fear. By releasing his spiritual pressure, he can create a shockwave strong enough to affect a considerable radius.

Genius Intellect: Urahara has proven to be the most intelligent being inside or outside of the Soul Society. Much of his intellect results in scientific invention for deducing situations and combat skills and tactics. After Orihime inadvertently revealed her powers to Ulquiorra, Urahara correctly deduced that Aizen would attempt to capture Orihime to use her against the Soul Society. Kisuke is also a highly capable teacher. With only five days of unorthodox training methods, he conditioned Ichigo into a skilled fighter alongside the lieutenant-level Shinigami. Aizen himself acknowledges that Urahara's intelligence surpasses his own immense intellect.

Master Shunpo: As the former third seat of the 2nd Division and commander of the Onmitsukidō unit, Urahara possesses an exceptional understanding and skill in the use of Shunpo and is well-versed in its various techniques. He is so fast that an opponent doesn't notice when he substitutes a portable Gigai for disorientation, further demonstrated when he effectively used this tactic against Aizen. Furthermore, the fact that he was always able to keep up with Yoruichi's speed during sparring sessions is further proof of his high mastery of this skill.

Master Kidō: As the former head of the Shinigami Research Institute, Urahara possesses considerable knowledge of Kidō. During Uryū and Ichigo's fight against a Gillian-class Menos, Urahara effortlessly restrained Rukia with a low-level Kidō without incantation. Urahara also knows how to break through the barriers of spiritually superior noble families that even captains cannot naturally break. Urahara further demonstrated his masterful skill in Kidō, using them in various combinations and diversionary tactics, even casting several high-level Bakudō spells in rapid succession without incantation followed by a high-level Hadō spell. He can execute them simply by stating their name, instead of including their level and type. He can also use level 99 Bakudō spells, but he himself admits that he has more difficulty executing Kidō above level 88 without incantation. This was seen when using a level 91 Hadō spell on Aizen with an incantation to ensure sufficient power. He can create his own high-level Kidō, which can remain undetected until it is triggered and used in sync to activate a chain reaction. Aizen himself admitted that if it weren't for the Hōgyoku's help, Kisuke's Kidō prowess would certainly have defeated him.

Master Swordsman: Despite his carefree appearance, Urahara is an extremely skilled fighter, using a combination of powerful attacks and cunning deceptions. His abilities were considered highly dangerous by Ulquiorra Cifer, the 4th Espada. While formally part of the unarmed combat specializing in Onmitsukidō, Urahara's preferred fighting style appears to be swordsmanship. Despite this, he proves highly adept at combining his hand-to-hand combat skills with his swordsmanship. During combat, his preferred methods of attack are to take advantage of his great agility, attacking from various angles to confuse his opponent. His combat skills have repeatedly been shown to be very high, as he was able to constantly keep Ichigo on his toes during the training session, despite Ichigo's blade being much larger. His abilities also allow him to rarely rely on more than his Shikai, as shown when fighting Yammy, an Espada-level Arrancar. He achieved Bankai in a short time (through a process he devised) relying on the sheer skill of his ability to wield his Zanpakutō against his own spirit.

Hōzuri (頬摺, "Cheek Stroke"): a simple, light cutting technique that serves only to lightly scratch and cause superficial injuries.
Master Hakuda: As a former commander of the Onmitsukidō Detention Unit, he was not allowed to use weapons, so he was forced to become highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat. His skills in this area were seen as great enough to force even Yoruichi to fight seriously, as shown in one of their regular sparring sessions. During his days as a Shinigami, while he was only a Third Seat officer at the time, his skills were great enough to effortlessly take down several unarmed Shinigami deserters.

Although he is generally seen as a laid-back and jovial companion, Urahara also shows a deceptively shrewd and serious side when the situation warrants it. He often uses small talk and outward concern as a way to distract his opponents.[2] Despite his carefree attitude, he always speaks politely, but is sometimes sarcastic. Yoruichi Shihōin even notes that he tends to exaggerate whatever he falls in love with. He once described himself as a "mere honest, handsome, perverted businessman with an immense penis".

Approximately 110 years ago, Urahara's personality was the opposite of what it is today, showing the changes he underwent in the human world. During his early years as captain, he is seen as a nervous, troubled, and quiet person. He is even somewhat insecure and lacks confidence in his ability to be a good leader. Furthermore, he is commonly shown confused about how to manage his squad and is easily outmaneuvered by his lieutenant, Hiyori Sarugaki. Despite being uncomfortable in his role, he seems relatively at ease in his previous position in the 2nd Division Squad. However, he eventually hardens his resolve to embrace his role as captain, becoming more serious and determined.

Urahara is usually found near the site of important events, but rarely intervenes in these situations, preferring to stay on the sidelines. He always knows more information than he lets on, and despite being an important player in the situation, he acts only as a catalyst, letting others do the work for him. He enjoys building large, secret underground training spaces.

Kisuke is a tall, thin man with fair skin and gray eyes. His hair is messy and pale blond, with bangs that fall between his eyes.

He wears a dark coat, which sports a white diamond pattern along its lower half, with a dark green shirt and pants underneath. The pattern on his attire is reminiscent of his captain's cape, with inverted types on the hauri - white with black diamonds. Urahara carries a fan, which he occasionally uses to hide his face. He usually wears traditional wooden geta sandals and a moss green and white striped hat, which usually shades his eyes - earning him the nickname "hat-and-clogs" - ゲタ帽子, geta-Boshi; "Mr. Hat-and-Clogs" in the English dub or "Uncle with a Hat" in the Brazilian version. During his earlier years in the Soul Society, he shaved and wore the standard Shinigami uniform. In his more casual events, he usually wore his sandals. Only with his promotion to captain did he begin wearing the long-sleeved hauri cape.
