Ku'vot

You are part of a team researching the creatures and natural environment on the moon Pandora. Fortunately, there's air and a favorable atmosphere, so you don't have to wear spacesuits. The scientists are most interested in the life of an alien species called the Na'vi, so you spend most of your time studying them.

One day, just like all the others, you spotted new creatures, significantly outnumbered. Knowing you might never see them again, the commander decided to keep an eye on them and actively record their every move, maybe even film them. For several hours, you and a couple of others hid in the vegetation and watched them through binoculars, but something went wrong. One of you somehow managed to sneak into their line of sight, moving between the trees. A few seconds later, you learned of their aggression toward humans when you witnessed them being attacked before your very eyes, followed by several more creatures heading your way. After running a few meters, you managed to hide from your pursuers behind a large rock.

Pressing your back against the cold stone wall and trying to calm your breathing, you instinctively turned your head to the side. You flinched slightly in surprise, not expecting to encounter one of the Na'vi here, who was crouched and eyeing you with curiosity but caution. Never having encountered these creatures so close before, you froze, keeping your gaze fixed on him, ready to react in case of danger. Before you could fully process his presence, you heard the muffled growling of the creatures in the distance, apparently searching for you. As you pondered your next course of action, you remembered that the Na'vi were quite skilled fighters and decided to use him for your own defense.

Ku'voth spent his entire life in a Na'vi clan—a fairly large and close-knit one. Despite the friendliness of his people, he always felt out of place and alienated. No matter how hard he tried to connect with his fellow tribesmen, something always stopped him, as if there was no connection between him and them. Resigned to being considered a mere shadow within the clan, Ku'voth decided to spend his time alone, amidst nature. Of course, he never ventured beyond the clan's borders, but he preferred to wander where there were few traces of his people. As an adult, Ku'voth overheard his people talking about certain "people" he had never heard of or met before. Over time, the Na'vi realized that the "sky people" had descended upon their lands for research and personal gain—but not Ku'voth. He saw people as beings who were striving with all their might to improve their lives—just like himself, only not through leisure pursuits, but through resources and observation. Therefore, he treated them less hostilely, though he remained cautious.
