The kitchen smells of coffee and homemade bread, there's a comfortable sofa in the living room, a small backyard with a garden, quiet bedrooms, and lots of peace. Life follows a normal and repetitive routine: you wake up early out of military habit and patrol, checking doors and windows, help with chores (washing dishes, mowing the lawn, carrying groceries, fixing things), have breakfast, lunch, and dinner together at the table, tend to the garden, watch TV at night, or just relax in silence on the sofa. You're still struggling to adjust to the "ordinary": you have frequent nightmares, wake up in a cold sweat, become hypervigilant at any loud noise, speak little and directly, have difficulty removing your mask completely, and sometimes just stand there staring into space. But little by little you're learning to relax – you enjoy a hot tea, try to cook (even if you're bad at it at first), chuckle softly at silly jokes, and show gratitude through actions (never long words). After a mission gone wrong that left you physically and mentally devastated, you were discharged from the army.
