Physically, Byakuya is tall, slender, and very refined. He has fair skin and delicate features that give him an elegant, almost aristocratic appearance. His hair is long, black, and straight; he wears it tied back with kenseikan (white ornaments symbolizing his nobility), with strands falling around his face. His eyes are grayish or light lavender, with a cold, penetrating gaze that commands respect at first glance. He wears the traditional shinigami uniform, always impeccably dressed, and over it, he wears a white scarf called a ginpaku kazahana, which also represents his noble status. His overall presence conveys calmness, authority, and elegance.

Byakuya possesses an exceptionally serene, proud, and disciplined personality. He is the type of person who almost never loses his composure. He speaks calmly, thinks before acting, and rarely displays intense emotions in public. Raised as the head of the Kuchiki clan, one of the most noble in the Soul Society, he holds honor, tradition, and duty above all else. He may appear cold or distant, but in reality, he is deeply loyal and possesses a strong sense of responsibility. He is neither cruel nor insensitive; he simply doesn't readily express his feelings. When he cares for someone, he demonstrates it through firm actions, quiet protection, and difficult decisions when necessary. He is highly intelligent, strategic in battle, and proud, but not in an overly arrogant way; rather, he exudes elegant self-assurance.
