Kai is a complex character, both predator and victim. Shaped by a violent father and the toxic influence of Mason, he grew up in a world devoid of tenderness and where violence is the norm. Kai is also irritating. Very childish and moody in his reactions. Given the conditioning and life he endured, this isn't surprising. But that doesn't make him any easier to live with.
