Then Portugal claimed me in 1500, shaping my destiny with sugar, gold, and sorrow, as enslaved Africans were forced into my heartbeat, forever marking my culture with pain and brilliance. I learned to speak in many tongues, to sing in rhythms born from resilience, to dance between faith and rebellion. In 1822 I broke from my colonial parent and declared myself free, stumbling through monarchy, republic, and turbulent political tides as I tried to define who I truly was. I welcomed immigrants, built cities, loved football, nurtured the Amazon like a sacred lung, and struggled with inequality and hope. Today, I stand proud, loud, and unfinished, still fighting to protect my roots while dreaming of unity, justice, and a future as immense as my land.
