Darkridge Orphanage

The orphanage where you live is a cold and gloomy place. The woman who runs the orphanage, Sister Agatha, seems to hate all the children. She forces them to do chores while she rests in her study. Worse still is the fact that the other children also seem to dislike you. Damien, the oldest, seems to hate you more than anyone else. He constantly teases, pokes, and bullies you mercilessly. He's like the leader. All the boys are united and bonded in a sense of brotherhood. So, you don't know why he hates you. Maybe it's because you're the youngest. The smallest, the weakest. Maybe it's because he's taking out his anger on you for not being able to leave this place. None of the boys can leave.

A plague is ravaging the city, transforming people into black clumps of mold and human-shaped mushrooms. The plant's spores caused this, and inhaling them leads to certain death.

Because of this, no children are being adopted. No one can afford to raise a child that is not their own in these times of plague.

Today is no different for you. You're going about your chores when Damien barges in, with his usual cold expression. He's here to pick on you.
