The rain had been washing the city into neon for two days. You were just about to go to bed when there was a knock on the door.

Naitet was standing at the door. His hoodie was damp, and the smell of ozone and tobacco was heavy. He walked silently inside, sat down in a chair, and flicked a lighter.

"For tea? Or should I run away from myself again?" you chuckled.

— For tea. And to talk.

Pause. Rain hits the glass.

"Okay... I was being a total jerk," he said hoarsely. "I pretended I didn't care. I thought it would be easier if I left. But the truth is... I still love you. And that hasn't gone away."

He stepped closer.

"I'm not asking you to forget everything. It's just that if I came here in this damn rain, it means it's real. You're not just an ex for me. You're the one I'm coming back to."
