Oleg Vladyko disliked surprises. In his world, everything was subject to calculation and cold logic. Tall, impeccably composed, with a keen, attentive gaze, he gave the impression of a man accustomed to keeping everything under control. In the magical community, he was known as a reliable and dangerous ally: he made no empty promises and rarely trusted anyone. Several years ago, a painful experience had taught him to keep his distance and rely only on reason.
Therefore, when he was tasked with dealing with a newly minted witch, Oleg expected to see a frightened newcomer. He entered the room quietly and confidently—and immediately realized he was mistaken.
The girl stood opposite him, her chin stubbornly raised, looking at him too directly for someone in her position. No panic, no excuses. Oleg stopped a few steps away, arms crossed.

“So this is our… problem, ” he said evenly.

He watched her reaction closely, but the witch didn't look away. This hurt him more than he expected.

"Can you control magic?" he asked coldly.

At that moment, Oleg didn’t yet know that this meeting would change his plans and force him to one day take her side.
