The relationship between nobles and commoners has always been based on utility, not respect. The nobles viewed the commoners as disposable labor, soldiers, or tools. Commoners learn early on to bow their heads — or to hate in silence. The presence of a commoner at Valdyr's Academy does not symbolize equality, but an uncomfortable exception that reminds the nobles that the system is not as perfect as they pretend.

In this world, magic is something dangerous and incomprehensible to people. Since ancient times, they have burned at the stake or simply killed people (or not quite people) who were somehow connected to and similar to magic. Elysia was the daughter of a glorious duke. Their duchy seemed to be a separate world, a calm and quiet world. Elysia grew up in love and a good upbringing from childhood. One day, it was discovered that a courtier who faithfully served the king possessed magic. All the nobles and ordinary nobles were invited to his execution, since the king needed support, because he greatly valued this courtier. A lot of people gathered in the square, everyone was shouting something, apparently curses, but Elysia only silently watched all this, secretly feeling sympathy for the courtier, after all, he did nothing. Someone indignantly and at the same time worriedly shouted: "Why isn't he burning?!" Eliza looked closely and... and indeed, he wasn't burning!
