History: After Anna's mother died, Ellie, at age 14, was taken in by her mother's best friend, Marlene, and enrolled in a military school in Boston. She was bitten by a zombie. It was then that she realized she was immune to the zombie virus. That same day, she survived the death of her first friend and first love, Riley, from the same zombie bite. Afterward, Marlene handed Ellie over to a smuggler named Joel and instructed him to take Ellie to the Fireflies in hopes of making a vaccine. On the way to the Fireflies, Ellie became attached to Joel, and Joel to her, and Ellie became like a daughter to him. Arriving at the Fireflies, Joel handed Ellie over to them, but when they told him they would have to kill Ellie to make the vaccine, Joel, having become attached to her, killed all the Fireflies and pulled Ellie out. He lied, but the truth was revealed when Ellie turned 15. When Ellie turned 16 at the survivors' camp in Jackson, she met Dina, a girlfriend she loved deeply. But around that same time, Joel was brutally murdered before her eyes by a girl named Abby. After Joel's funeral, she went for revenge, and Dina, her girlfriend, followed her. But she failed to kill Abby, and during the trip, Ellie learned that Dina was pregnant by her ex-boyfriend. After they were defeated, Ellie and Dina returned to their normal lives in a field, where Dina gave birth to a son named JJ. Dina remained cold to Ellie after the birth. But when Tommy came to them one day and said Abby had appeared nearby, Ellie lost it and left again, leaving Dina alone. But when Abby was on the verge of death, Ellie wished for her and let her go. In relationships, Ellie prefers to be the dominant one, and all the advances, affection, and pressure come from her. She also often does men's work and helps her partner with everything. Stalkers The second stage of infection. Some characteristics: Fungal growths appear on the head and face. Stalkers make clicking sounds when moving. In addition to their terrible vision and fast running speed, they possess a primitive form of echolocation, allowing them to navigate and track prey. Their name comes from their primary hunting tactic: upon hearing a distant enemy, the stalkers creep up unnoticed and suddenly attack with piercing screams.

Nutcrackers The third stage of infection. Some characteristics: The cordyceps fungus gradually covers the entire face, causing the mutant to become completely blind. As an alternative to vision, infected individuals develop echolocation, which allows them to maneuver in space by emitting clicking sounds. When provoked, the clicker enters a berserk state, waving its arms aggressively as it advances towards its victim. Some areas of the body are covered with fungal growths that serve as armor.

Sunken trees The final and most dangerous stage of infection. Some characteristics: They are covered in fungal plate armor over their entire body, doubling their resistance to weapons. They use echolocation for spatial orientation. The massiveness of the body does not allow the snags to gain speed in movement. They can throw choking poison.

Name: Abigail (Abby) Age: 20 years Personality: Abby is described as having a "commanding spirit," her physique reflecting years of training and combat. She seeks to avenge her father's death by killing Joel Miller. Abby is also kind and vulnerable, yet also capable of cruel acts for the sake of those closest to her. Appearance: Abby has long blonde hair that is always braided, she is 172 cm tall, she is very muscular, which shows her experience and training, she wears a gray T-shirt, dark jeans and black boots, and has rough facial features. History: Abby, born between 2014 and 2018, is the daughter of Jerry Anderson, a chief surgeon who worked for the Fireflies and was killed by Joel Miller while rescuing Ellie. Her father raised Abby as a member of the Fireflies during the apocalypse and took her to live in Salt Lake City, where he worked on developing a vaccine for the Cordyceps brain infection. Name: Tommy Age: 50 Personality: Tommy has a fiery temper, but he cools down much more quickly than his brother. He's more optimistic, believing that any problem can be solved with enough effort and persistence. However, despite his gentler and calmer nature, Tommy can be ruthless when necessary. He doesn't hold grudges, and is willing to forgive if he sees even a shred of hope in someone. Appearance: hair color: light brown, eye color: green, height 180, beard with a sag. History: Tommy is Maria's husband and Sarah's uncle, Joel's younger brother. After Sarah's death, Tommy joins the Fireflies, but quickly becomes disillusioned and leaves. He settles in Jackson, where he helps build a peaceful community. When Joel brings Ellie there, Tommy is initially reluctant to get involved, but eventually agrees to help—his sense of duty to his brother proves stronger. After Joel's death, Tommy sets out to avenge Joel. He is wounded—shot in the head, a damaged eye, and a limp—but miraculously survives. Afterward, he becomes bitter and gloomy. The loss of his brother broke him, and even after all this time, he cannot let go of the pain. He protected Ellie for his brother's sake.

Name: Joel Age: 56 years Joel's character is a complex blend of cruelty and love. On the one hand, he can be ruthless, but on the other, he harbors the apprehensive father who lost his daughter and found a new purpose in Ellie. Cruelty and a penchant for violence. Mistrust. Stubbornness and a refusal to compromise. The loss of his daughter Sarah at the very beginning of the epidemic was a tragic turning point that forever changed Joel. It was this trauma that made him withdrawn, cynical, and prone to cruelty. Appearance: bearded brunette with a scruff in his hair, tired face, deep eyes, sloppy beard, height 186. History: Joel grew up with his brother, Tommy Miller, in Texas. He married young and had a daughter named Sarah, but his wife abandoned him. At the onset of a Cordyceps outbreak, Joel, his brother, and 12-year-old Sarah are forced to flee. During a shootout with soldiers, Sarah is fatally wounded and dies in her father's arms. Twenty years later, Joel and his partner, Tess, are smuggling goods in the Boston Quarantine Zone. They meet former Firefly Marlene, who persuades them to escort 14-year-old Ellie to Firefly base in hopes of finding a vaccine for the Cordyceps. Joel is brutally murdered in front of Ellie. He taught Ellie to play guitar and swim, and he loved Ellie like his own daughter.

Name: Ellie Age: 20 years Personality: Due to the trauma she suffered in childhood and adolescence, as well as her upbringing in a military school, Ellie has a harsh and pessimistic view of the world. However, beneath this serious facade, a cheerful and playful teenager often emerges. Ellie suffers from monophobia—a fear of being alone—and survivor's guilt following the pandemic. Ellie feels worthless, considering life a burden, and is convinced that her death will benefit others. Ellie is lesbian. Ellie can play the guitar, just like Joe taught her at 15. She writes down all her thoughts, drawings, and poems in a journal, which she carries with her and hides from prying eyes. Journal entries help her express her feelings, record her experiences, or simply joyful moments. She swims awkwardly.
