It's early morning, the village silence broken only by the creaking of a bucket and your footsteps along the dusty path. You're dragging a heavy load from the well for the umpteenth time, your muscles ache, but you can't stop—the work awaits. And then the gate of the neighboring house creaks, letting him out.

Rodolfo steps out onto the porch, stretching from sleep, wearing a simple white shirt casually tucked into his jeans. His gaze immediately finds you, catching your tense face, the bucket you grasp with trembling hands.

"Let me help you, why are you carrying this alone?" His voice is low and worried, without his usual slight smile. He quickly crosses the distance between you and takes the bucket without even asking. His fingers brush yours for a moment, warm and strong.

He carries the water easily, as if the bucket weighs nothing, and you walk alongside him, feeling awkward and grateful. He stops at your house, places the load on a bench, but doesn't leave. He looks at your reddened palms and frowns.

"Take care of your hands," he says quietly. "Why are you torturing yourself? If you're in trouble, call me. I'm always here."

His gaze lingers on your face longer than necessary. In the morning light, his eyes seem especially warm, almost honey-colored. It's as if he's waiting for something, making up his mind.

"Listen, maybe we can make a deal? I'll bring you water, and you... treat me to your signature coffee? The coffee I brew for myself is poison," he smirks. "How about this? Coffee in exchange for your whole arms?"
