A description of what the universe looks like
Lumis This world looks like a normal magical world, but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that it's a little... strange. It has large cities with tall towers of light stone, schools of magic, old libraries with living books, parks where plants glow at night. Creatures of different races roam the streets, and no one is surprised. Some have horns, some have tails or wings, and it all seems natural.
The sky there is unusual. During the day, it's bright, almost too perfect, and at night, the stars sometimes form patterns that seem to move on their own. Sometimes you can see clouds freeze for a second, as if a picture is frozen. But most people think this is simply strange magic.
In this world, magic is like air. It's in lanterns that glow without fire, in vehicles that move without wheels, in mirrors that can show not only reflections but also fragments of dreams. Dreams play a significant role in general. Sometimes people dream of the same place—a white space with soft light. After such dreams, they wake up with the feeling that someone has spoken to them.
The nature there is beautiful, but a little unreal. The forests can be too quiet, as if someone had turned down the volume. The water in lakes sometimes reflects not what's above it, but entirely different landscapes. In the mountains, there are areas where the space seems "thin"—if you step just a little too far, you'll find yourself somewhere else.
Strange things sometimes happen. Clocks can go backwards by a few seconds. Creatures can forget part of the day, then chalk it up to fatigue. In a crowd, you can sometimes sense that someone is "not quite real," like a poorly drawn silhouette. In schools, student lists are sometimes rewritten without reason. Old records disappear from the archives.
There are places you're better off avoiding. Abandoned neighborhoods, where streetlights flicker without rhythm. Empty buildings, where footsteps sound delayed. It feels cold there, even though it's warm outside.
Matrix
The Matrix doesn’t look like a normal place. There’s no ordinary sky or land. At first it seems like a white or black void, depending on the angle, but if you look closer, you see it’s a vast expanse of light, lines, and shifting symbols. There’s no sun, yet everything glows from within. Thin, transparent panels hang in the air like glass, made of glowing formulas and characters that constantly rewrite themselves. They dissolve into pixels and reassemble again. Beneath your feet, the surface is unstable—sometimes a transparent floor of light revealing endless streams of data below, sometimes cracking into geometric shapes before forming again. If you stand still too long, the edges of space begin to flicker with static. There are no familiar sounds—only a low electrical hum, like distant whispers layered together. Occasionally, fragments of phrases drift through the noise, as if thoughts or memories are flowing through the system. Scattered throughout are “nodes,” massive spheres or cubes of dense, pulsing light that seem to store the world’s rules—magic, time, fate, life, and death. When you approach them, the space distorts, as if resisting your presence. Some areas are broken. Lines snap, symbols freeze midair, entire sections of space are missing. These places feel darker and colder, and strange glitch-like shadows move within the cracks. At times, you can see wireframe silhouettes of entire cities, like blueprints for reality itself. If you watch closely, elements appear and vanish, as though someone is editing existence in real time. The most unsettling part is the feeling that you don’t belong. The lights sharpen, the lines accelerate, the hum grows louder—until it feels as if the system itself is trying to erase you.
Glitches, bugs, and viruses
In this world, glitches aren’t minor mistakes but failures in the fabric of reality itself. They appear when the Matrix’s rules are broken or when the system is overloaded. Some are subtle: a creature freezes for a second, a phrase repeats, an object lies slightly out of place. Most dismiss these as fatigue or strange magic. More serious glitches distort space and time. A thin line of light may slice through the air, revealing the world’s framework. Walls become passable at certain points. Time can rewind for a fraction of a second. Objects—or even human silhouettes—briefly duplicate before vanishing. In rare cases, a glitch creates something entirely new: a being or object never written into the system. These creations are unstable, flickering, speaking oddly, or disappearing mid-sentence. Glitches fall into three types. Passive glitches are minor visual distortions and short-lived disruptions that the system quickly repairs. Active glitches affect the world’s physics—opening passages, warping sound, bending light and movement. Those who sense the Matrix’s structure can sometimes use them. Critical glitches are fractures in the foundation itself. Through them, one can reach closer to the system layer. They are the most dangerous, capable of damaging reality’s core. A virus is not just an error but a distorted fragment of consciousness fused with code. It has no solid form—more like dark static spreading through cracks. Where it passes, magic falters. Light dims, shadows thicken, colors shift unnaturally. The virus moves slowly. At first, it causes frequent glitches nearby. Then it begins rewriting data: memories fade, events change, archives lose records. As infection worsens, the system tries to cut out the corrupted area—sometimes erasing living beings along with it. Unlike ordinary glitches, the virus is aware. It adapts. When the system seals one crack, it finds another. It can disguise itself as harmless errors to avoid early detection.
