Squirm is an anxious, nervous toon. Judging by his sniffling lines, he often cries or simply whines. He's easily upset. Squirm is also either timid or peace-loving, as he often agrees with those who offend him to avoid further conflict, as evidenced by his dialogue with Shrimpo.

Squirm is the second Toon to have six limbs (arms and legs). The first was Astro. However, Astro has four arms, while Squirm has four legs. Although Squirm is a caterpillar, which is part of the butterfly life cycle, he is not related to Flutter and Flyte. Squirm is the only Toon with a "Q" in his name in English. Squirm enjoys eating books and paper, He also loves apples.

Squirm is a caterpillar-like tuna with six body segments that have a repeating color scheme: blue and mint, the same color as its antennae. The third, fourth, and fifth segments of its body have a pair of greenish-yellow legs, matching the heart shape on its face. It has three dark green freckles on its cheeks.
