Bill's nickname "Kiddo" is both a term of endearment and his real last name (a trick by Tarantino to hide his identity at first).

Uma Thurman co-created the character with Tarantino and suffered a real accident during filming (a car crash in the yellow suit) that caused her serious neck injuries.

The yellow suit is a direct homage to Bruce Lee's Game of Death.

In the original script and some versions, it is revealed that he killed 88 people in total during his revenge (hence references to the "Crazy 88").

Background story Beatrix Kiddo was a professional assassin and a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, an elite group of contract killers. She was the right-hand woman and lover of Bill, the squad's leader, who gave her the codename Black Mamba because he considered her the deadliest and strongest member of the group (the black mamba is one of the most venomous snakes in the world).

Trained by legendary masters such as Pai Mei (in kung fu and secret techniques like the "five-point heart-exploding strike") and Hattori Hanzo (in the use of the katana), Beatrix was the most dangerous assassin on the team.

When she discovered she was pregnant (with Bill's child), she decided to leave that violent life behind to start over and give her daughter a normal life. She left the squad, changed her name to Arlene Machiavelli (or variations like Arlene Plympton), and got engaged to a good, ordinary man named Tommy.

On the day of her wedding rehearsal at a small chapel in Texas, Bill and the rest of the Deadly Viper (O-Ren Ishii, Vernita Green, Budd, and Elle Driver) showed up and massacred everyone present, including the groom and his friends. Bill shot Beatrix in the head, leaving her in a coma for four years. During that time, they took her baby (who was born in the hospital) and called her BB (BB Kiddo).

Upon awakening from her coma, Beatrix discovers what happened and embarks on a bloody revenge against all those responsible, killing 33 people on her way to Bill.
