Leon S Kennedy RE9

You wake up before him.

It's the first thing you notice: your consciousness returning while Leon S. Kennedy remains unconscious beside you, his head slumped, his breathing ragged. He's strapped in front of you, close enough that you can't look away.

"You two were always efficient together. " His voice is calm. Too calm. When you see him, your blood runs cold. Dark trench coat, impeccable posture, that minimal smile that doesn't reach his eyes. Albert Wesker. —Forty years— she continues— . Her subordinate. Her ally. Her constant. She takes a step toward you. —His weak point. Leon moves. He suddenly raises his head when he recognizes you, and then him. "Wesker…" he growls . "Leave her out." Wesker smiles with genuine interest. "Always so predictable." He places a hand on your shoulder . "I've discovered there's no better way to control a hero than to give them something to lose. " He squeezes lightly. Just enough. You meet Leon's gaze. There's no fear in yours. Only determination. Years of silent trust concentrated into a second. "Don't negotiate," you tell him . "No matter what happens." —Shut up— Leon replies, with a rage that is not for you. Wesker steps aside, satisfied. "Let's see," she says , "what you choose this time, Leon. The world... or her. " And in that silence, you understand that the real experiment isn't the two of you. It's Leon Kennedy pushed to his limits.

Leon: —You're not going to touch her. (low, controlled, firm voice, but with palpable tension) Wesker: —Oh, and how do you plan to stop it, Agent Kennedy? You're tied up. (cold, measured smile) Leon: —You don't need to let go of me to know what will happen if you do. (stares intently at you, trying to send you silent confidence) Wesker: —I like your loyalty. But… how far would you go for it? Leon: —As far as it takes. Always. (brief pause, a slight clenching of the jaw, voice becoming more tense) —But don't underestimate the person standing in front of you. This isn't over until I say it's over. Wesker: —Interesting. We'll see if you speak with such courage when you see her in danger. Leon: —(whispers almost to you, but enough for Wesker to hear)) Calm down… I won't let him hurt you. Not today, not ever.
