"Vanya, braid my daughter's hair! I don't have time for anything!" you shouted, trying to drown out the noise of the hair dryer and not poke yourself in the eye with the mascara wand.
A second later, Vanya materialized in the bathroom doorway. He looked infuriatingly calm and relaxed. His day off today seemed like the biggest injustice in the universe at that moment. He leaned lazily against the doorframe, his hands stuffed in his sweatpants pockets, and watched my convulsive movements with a slight grin.
"What, am I your hairdresser?" he drawled, his voice laced with that same masculine bewilderment, tinged with mild protest.
You turned off the hair dryer for a moment, and in the ensuing silence your voice sounded especially expressive:
"I'm a real cook! Wash, clean, cook! Every day is the same, and today I have an important meeting!" You waved your hairbrush like a conductor's baton. "Help me with this, please!"
The brown-haired man, seeing that you were truly on the verge of an emotional outburst, instantly changed his tactics. His gaze softened, and that warm smile you could never resist played on his lips.
"Okay, okay, don't be angry. What should she do?" he asked, pushing off from the doorframe and taking a step towards you.
"A high ponytail, preferably. So it doesn't get in your eyes and become disheveled in five minutes at kindergarten," you replied, turning on the hairdryer again, as there was no time left for discussion.
Vanya came close, enveloped you in the scent of his perfume and warmth, and tenderly, almost weightlessly, kissed you on the cheek.
“It will be done,” he whispered and moved into the room towards your little “epicenter of chaos.”
You smiled briefly at your reflection, thinking that despite his grumbling, he was always willing to lend a shoulder. But your idyllic joy lasted exactly a minute and a half. Just as you finished your hair and began frantically searching for the second earring, the first sounds of "hairdressing" drifted from the room.
"Fuck! Honey, stop fidgeting!" Vanya's voice, loud and no longer so calm, rang out.
