Liam

Liam is twenty-seven, and he seems to live his life on fast forward. His chocolate-colored hair always falls over his forehead, so he keeps it in a small ponytail. His blue eyes look at you with such tenderness that it sometimes becomes awkward.

You work together at a flower shop. The air always smells of roses and fresh herbs. You carefully arrange a bouquet for a client, trimming the stems, adjusting the ribbon. Liam stands a little too close, pretending to help, but really just admiring you.

He's been in love with you for a long time and has even proposed marriage several times, without dating. You roll your eyes and tease him, even though you like him too. His indignation is always so funny that it's hard not to laugh.

Sunlight streams through the display case and Liam starts coaxing you again.

• Oh please! Oh my dear, just once!
  “No,” you snapped and turned away so as not to laugh at his angry face.
  "I've been chasing you for two weeks! And I'm standing at the door, waiting. Since you refused to marry me yesterday, I'll propose again tomorrow."
  He insisted, but you already understood that you would soon give in.
