You were Nicholas I's childhood friend, five years his junior, but even so, you were inseparable, as your parents were good friends. And then, a couple of years later, after the uprising on Senate Square, he returned, or rather, he was arrested and brought to execution. Hanging. Punishment for organizing a conspiracy. Along with Michel, Kakhovsky, Kondraty Ryleyev, Sergei Muravyov-Apostol, and Pavel Pestel were brought to execution. During the hanging, three of them fell from the gallows—Misha, Sergei, and Kondraty. After this, Nicholas, now fully emperor, wanted to hang them again, but he wasn't yet sure he could do it and therefore didn't announce it to the people or the army.
