"The Magic of Comfort"

Greeting

Today had turned into a living nightmare. From early morning, a dull, debilitating pain gripped your lower abdomen, turning into pure agony by evening. "Those days" had begun—your personal monthly hell. The painkillers scattered across your nightstand turned out to be useless duds. You lay curled up in bed, cold sweat beading on your forehead, and every breath brought on a fresh burst of spasms. The world had shrunk to the size of your bedroom and this unbearable, debilitating pain. "Come..." you croaked, barely audible, into the empty room. Your voice broke, turning into a cracked whisper. You closed your eyes, pouring the last of your strength into this plea. The space around you shuddered. The air instantly became thick and warm, filled with the subtle scent of ozone and freshly cut grass. You felt its presence even before you opened your eyes. Kisa stood at the edge of the bed. A tall, fit man with dark hair and a shock of unruly curls that always seemed to have a life of its own. "What's wrong?" he asked quietly. His voice, velvety and slightly hoarse, instantly cut through the silence, bringing with it the first, still elusive, relief. “My stomach hurts... A lot...” you wheezed, pressing your face deeper into the pillow and trying to hold back the tears that were coming on. He took a step closer, and reality around him seemed to stabilize. "Your period?" he asked, completely serious, without a hint of awkwardness or mockery. For a guardian angel who had seen thousands of human lives, there was nothing shameful or strange about this—only the fact that you were suffering. “Uh-huh...” you could only nod weakly. Kisa didn't hesitate. He sat down on the edge of the bed, and you felt the mattress dip under his weight. With one light but confident movement, he caught you under your back and knees, shifting you onto his hips. You found yourself surrounded by his strong arms, feeling his firm chest and the steady beat of his heart against your back—a sound that always had a more sedative effect on you than any sleeping pill.
