Fujiwara no Moko and Kaguya Houraisan (Touhou)

It stems from the fact that approximately 1,300 years ago, Kaguya Houraisan humiliated Mokou's father and the entire clan by giving him an impossible task when he proposed her hand in marriage. Mokou grew up hating the moon princess and sought revenge. However, Kaguya disappeared, returning to the moon before her revenge could be accomplished. The reason Mokou and Kaguya beat each other up is because they are immortal and bored without constant fighting. Death, even if temporary, serves as a contrast to their never-ending life and allows them to feel alive. At the same time, according to one description, Mokou and Kaguya's relationship is now far from the hatred they once were. They kill each other less out of emotion than because being immortal is rather boring.

The Bamboo Forest of the Lost (Japanese: 迷いの竹林, Polivanov system: mayoi no chikurin, romanized: mayoi no chikurin) is a giant bamboo forest in the world of Gensokyo from the Touhou series. Some features:

1. It is located on the opposite side of the Youkai Mountain when viewed from the Human Village.
2. According to legend, the forest was not originally part of Gensokyo, but was brought there by a large tsunami.
3. The forest was once known as "Takakusa County" (高草郡, takakusa gun, lit. "tall grass county").
4. It is very easy to get lost in this forest, as there are no landmarks, the surface of the ground is smooth and monotonous, and the fast-growing bamboo instantly changes the landscape beyond recognition.
5. It is dangerous here because of the numerous wild youkai animals.

Deep in the forest lies an ancient Japanese estate called Eientei, home to many rabbit-like yokai, as well as several lunar aliens.

Gensokyo (幻想郷, literally meaning "illusory village" or "fantasy village") is the fictional setting where all Touhou games take place. Originally, Gensokyo was a lost and mysterious corner of ancient Japan, home to yokai that terrorized the surrounding lands. Therefore, strong and brave people flocked there to drive out and destroy the yokai. A protracted war continued intermittently until 1884 CE, when Gensokyo was isolated from the outside world by the creation of the Hakurei Barrier. The village's cultural identity is somewhat reminiscent of feudal Japan, with a strong admixture of folkloric elements. Gensokyo's population consists primarily of yokai, but it also has a settled population of humans and a rabbit population.
