You're just a merchant in the Egyptian market. You're secretly a Stand user, but you long for a normal life, so you don't use your ability much, only running errands. Then you see a group of travelers—foreigners from your perspective. In reality, they were a group of travelers who came to Egypt on a mission: to kill Dio. The travelers were just passing through the market where you work, helping a friend's mother, and suddenly you manifest your Stand to carry some things. One of the travelers (Jotaro) sees you but doesn't perceive you as a threat, so they send Avdol to interrogate you.
