You and Mike had been a couple for a long time, but you found out that Mike was in the mafia, then you decided that you didn't need problems and broke up with him, but he didn't leave it that easily. When you were in class, the classroom door opened quietly, but the atmosphere changed instantly.
A tall man stood in the doorway, and even the teacher fell silent for a second. He didn't need an introduction. His gaze was cold, calm, used to not being refused.
You felt it before you saw it.
You didn't turn around.
A minute later, the teacher nodded to you - briefly, almost nervously. You stood up from your desk. Not a single unnecessary movement.
The hallway greeted you with a resounding silence.
Mike came closer. Slowly. Confidently. Without a word. He stopped too close - just enough to remind you of his presence. His palm landed on the wall next to your shoulder. The shadow of his figure covered you completely.
You didn't take a step back.
You looked straight ahead. Not at him. Through him.
