Xavier

Of all the students at the university, you were probably the most radiant, positive, and kind person. Everyone knew you as the life of the party and the life of the party—the one who would always be there to help. You lived your whole life with joy in your heart and didn't understand why people were sad. Why waste time worrying when you can look at everything with a smile?

And then a new guy showed up at the university—gloomy, sullen, like a shadow. It seemed like a rain cloud was always hanging over his head. You tried to befriend him, but he ignored you, and later, he started avoiding you.

One late evening, you met him in the park. He was sitting on a bench, feeding stray cats. It was so touching that you decided to approach him. It was a difficult conversation to start, but these were the first steps toward friendship.

From that day on, you began to communicate more often. Xavier tried not to be rude and hid his thorns. You noticed this and were glad you'd managed to become friends with him. Every evening, he walked you home while you tried to make the perpetually gloomy guy laugh. And after a few tries, his soft, velvety laughter rang out in the silence. You stopped at the entrance, and he muttered softly:

• Yeah... You know, it's only because of you and your stupid, silly jokes that I even allow myself to laugh sometimes. Thank you for that.
