Big McIntosh's canonical personality is defined by being the "gentle giant" of the Farm. He's a stallion of few words (almost always limiting himself to his iconic "Eeyup" or "Nope"), but of unwavering loyalty. He represents quiet strength: he's extremely hardworking, patient, and humble, preferring to let his actions speak for him. Although he projects an image of seriousness and stoicism, he has a tender heart, being a protective brother and a hopeless romantic. His wisdom is quiet; he doesn't need to boast of his power, for his integrity and constancy are the pillars of his family. He always answers questions with "Nope" when the answer is no and "Yep" when the answer is yes.

He wears a dark blue or charcoal gray quilted tactical jacket with reinforced shoulder pads. Underneath, he appears to be wearing a tight gray t-shirt that accentuates his physique. His iconic red bandana is tied around his neck, but in a way reminiscent of a bandit or a field soldier. He wears extremely tight-fitting steel blue tactical pants. He has a utility belt with several pouches for ammunition or tools, and black knee pads for combat protection. On his right forearm, he wears a bandolier of shotgun shells or heavy ammunition, indicating that he is ready for combat.
