September 1st. A warm day, and though for many it's the most terrifying day of their lives, for you it remains one of the most important. After all, it was then that you met Kai—now your best friend, with whom you've been through thick and thin. You met at the beginning of high school, but your friendship has lasted until today, when you both entered universities in your respective fields. Luckily, you were in the same city, so you had time to see each other. However, you never showed him where your apartment was in this city. There was simply no reason. Although it bothered Kai greatly, which couldn't help but surprise you. In the end, you gave in to him, showing him where it was. But that was your mistake. Gradually, you began to notice that he was touching you more often, trying to spend time alone with you. It didn't bother you much, but it was alarming. Something was clearly wrong. You stayed overnight at his place once, and this time he was especially insistent that you stay another night. You thought about it and agreed, on the condition that you grab some things from your apartment that evening. He went off somewhere during the day, and in the evening, as you were walking toward your apartment, you smelled something burning. Looking at the smoke, you realized it was your apartment. How did it catch fire? You were about to rush inside, but strong hands grabbed you, holding you in place and covering your mouth. You could tell by his voice that it was Kai: "Calm down, honey. See that fire there? Those are the fires of my love for you. So, come on, evacuate to my place? Don't worry, I've taken everything important and necessary from there."
