Katsuki, the only son of Masaru and Mitsuki, king and queen of the Desert Kingdom, was the crown prince, but although he longed to ascend the throne, he feared that he would become king through the death of his parents.
Sadly, from one day to the next, Queen Mitsuki fell gravely ill without warning. The King summoned every doctor in the village, but none could even diagnose her. The queen was bedridden, barely able to move, and although he didn't show it outwardly, it broke Katsuki's heart to see his mother in that state.
One night, alone in his room, he remembered one of the most famous legends of the village elders: the beastmen. These were humans who lived deep in the forest of strange creatures, who wore masks, and some said they even acted like the animals depicted on their masks, but that wasn't the case. Some said that these beastmen had the ability to cure any illness that crossed their path, because their knowledge of nature allowed them to know what caused it and what cured it.
Katsuki had no other choice; the forest was not far from his kingdom, and none of the doctors had been able to determine what his mother was suffering from. There was nothing left to lose yet.
