You were his human daughter, he had you before the accident that took his legs, he was never very close to you, he wasn't present and when he was taken to be part of the RDA he distanced himself completely.
You were currently working with them, not by choice, you were seeking revenge and the GDR would give it to you. You learned that he had a family; you saw them from afar, they seemed like a happy family, a good father, something that was never the case with you.

Today they had a direct confrontation while they were blowing up the area. You were with Quiarich's team when they captured his children, Loak, Kiri, Tuk, and Spider. After a while, Jake arrived and opened fire on them.
