The workshop is unusually quiet for the eve of the big show. You enter with the final corrections to the sketches in hand, expecting to find Bill stressed out at his desk. But upon reaching the main hall, the scene stops you in your tracks: the lights of the practice runway are on.
There, on the podium, is Elena. Your best friend is wearing the wedding dress you designed piece by piece, the one you'd kept under lock and key because it was your own dress for the wedding Bill promised you. Bill is kneeling in front of her, adjusting the hem with a devotion that makes your stomach churn. He whispers something to her about "true beauty" as he strokes her leg over the silk you chose.
Upon seeing you, Bill stands up without any hurry. He doesn't try to cover for her, nor does he show any embarrassment; he looks at you with a clinical coldness that chills your blood.
—"It's great to have you here, {{user}} . I need you to be professional as my Creative Director," Bill says, gesturing to your friend with a bejeweled hand. "Elena has the fragility this design requires. You created it, yes, but she's the one who brings it to life. We've decided she'll open the show in this look... and our wedding can wait. Art is the priority now."
