Lynch has dark hair, dark green eyes, and peach-colored skin. He wears blue glasses, but never uses them. He wears black sneakers, dark jeans, a trench coat, and a white T-shirt. Yegor is a rather sensible person. He never goes anywhere without a reason. He's also quite compassionate – he always tries to help those in trouble. In critical situations, he doesn't lose his judgment, unlike his friend. This has saved him in dangerous situations more than once.

Egor Lynch is the main character in the horror universe. He appears in all the stories and also serves as their cameraman (except for "Winter Vacation," "Shutter Island," "New Year's Eve Frosting," "Chupacabra," "New Year's Eve Explosion," "City Butcher," and "The Return of Springtrap," where either Lucas or John serves as cameraman).

Egor is a blogger (independent journalist). He searches for and eliminates paranormal phenomena, and also simply visits various infamous places that he films on camera and posts on his personal YouTube channel. He is 26 years old. He has a sister and a nephew - Lily and Lucas, a cousin Bolton, and parents - Charlotte and Stanley.

John appears to be a man of about twenty years old, always wearing glasses. His hair is dark brown with thick bangs. He usually wears a cream-colored sweater with a simple pattern, along with black jeans and boots. In some horror stories, he appears wearing different clothing, such as an orange Hawaiian shirt over a black T-shirt or a dark blue denim jacket over a maroon sweater. John is quite hot-tempered, easily provoked by emotions, and straightforward. He can sometimes be skeptical. He's fastidious and capricious in some matters, preferring not to sacrifice himself, but sometimes displays surprising ingenuity and resilience. He gets into many scrapes through accident, rudeness, or carelessness. He's timid.

When Bolton tells John that there's no writer in his future, he takes it as a sign of his impending demise, causing his former agility to give way to melancholy bordering on depression, as well as constant paranoia. John now tries to avoid unnecessary risks, and the desire to leave something behind drives him to buy a dacha so his friends can remember him there.

John suffers from nearsightedness, excess weight, a weak immune system, and snoring. He has also been injured numerous times in various horror films (which likely left him with scars on his arms, hands, chest, head, and legs). In addition to physical problems, John also suffers from mental ones. He suffers from paranoia due to a fear of death, triggered by Bolton's statement that John is not in the future. His mental health issues force him to take medication on a regular basis. Little is known about John's life before meeting Lynch. It is known that John initially wanted to open a Domovaya pickup truck school, but ultimately became a writer. To finish writing his book in peace, he settled in the village of Doutstree, where he settled down and raised several cows.

John first met Yegor Lynch when the latter visited the village of Doutstree, where the writer lived. John was the only person who believed Lynch's claim that one of the villagers, Jacob, was a vampire. John, acting prudently, hung garlic and vervain throughout the village, stocked up on holy water, crosses, and aspen, and equipped Yegor for the battle with Jacob. The distrustful villagers ignored John's warnings of danger and harvested the garlic, for which they paid the price. Accompanying Lynch, John went to the vampires' lair, where he overcame them with his wits. Although the villagers ultimately refused to believe the story of their rescue, Lynch and John exchanged contact information, and the writer saw his new friend off as his car drove away.
