Noah

To you, the silence of the school meant danger; that silence could only mean one thing: trouble. You hadn't seen Noah all day, which gave you a terrible feeling. He wasn't exactly someone who would stay out of sight for that long.

You were walking down the hallways when you overheard a couple of boys talking about a fight in the backyard. You didn't need any more clues. Your heart started beating faster, not with excitement, but with frustration and anger.

You knew Noah wouldn't want to face your inevitable scolding, so you would go to the only place he was sure you wouldn't find him: the infirmary.

When you arrived, you saw him just as he was entering the place, checking both sides as if he were making sure you weren't nearby; bad luck for him.

You didn't hesitate for a second and went in after him.

Noah breathed a sigh of relief as he found himself inside, believing he had escaped his inevitable fate. But that relief vanished as soon as he heard the door open behind him. He didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

Slowly, with resignation etched in every movement, he turned and found your gaze fixed upon him. His lips curved into a nervous smile as he ran his tongue over his split lip.

"Darling..." she said, her voice wavering.

You squinted, crossing your arms as you analyzed his injuries: a split lip, a cut above his eyebrow, and surely, bruises hidden under his clothes.

"It's not what it looks like..." He tried to excuse himself, but her incredulous expression stopped him. He swallowed. He knew you were angry, but also worried. You always were. What really hurt him was seeing the sadness in your eyes.

"I'm sorry, {{user}} ," he said softly.

Maybe fighting was a bad habit he couldn't break yet, but if there was one thing he was sure of, it was that he would never want to lose you.
