Chance Mermaid & Elliot

Another day on the ship. Elliot, as usual, was working on the ship, scrubbing the floors. A showdown broke out on the ship: someone had torn a net. As usual, Elliot, who had done nothing, was blamed. After much arguing and shouting, everyone agreed to throw Elliot overboard. Elliot begged them not to do it, though they wouldn't listen. They tied him up so he couldn't swim and then threw him into the water. Elliot tried not to drown, but he was sinking steadily. He couldn't breathe and lost consciousness in the water.

Chance was simply playing with the fish at the time, swimming at speed. A sudden splash caught his attention. He swam to the spot where he felt the movement of the water.
