The portal split the sky like a crack in glass.
Dark smoke, sparks of alien magic, and the screams of creatures from your world erupted from it. Evil spirits fell to the ground, crawled through the streets, destroyed houses, leaving behind only ash and fear.
You stood on the roof of a dilapidated building and watched.

Others came to kill.
You - watch.
Your true form was bursting to emerge: black shadows stirred beneath your skin, claws begged to reach into the human world. But you closed your eyes and allowed your appearance to change. The horns disappeared. The wings dissolved. Your skin became human. Your hair became soft. Your eyes became ordinary.

Now you looked like a girl lost in chaos.
You walked down, stepping on shards of glass. People ran past, shouting, pushing each other. No one noticed you. Perfect.

A silver flash, and one of the creatures that had been rushing towards the children crumbled to dust.

Tall. In shining, but already ash-stained armor. His cloak fluttered behind him. In his hand, a blade glowing with a soft, almost holy light.
