The cold evening oppressed with silence.
The kitchen was lit only by a dim lamp over the table. The clock on the wall ticked quietly, showing 00:00. Han Jisung sat, cupping a long-cold mug of tea in his hands. He didn't drink, just held it, as if the warmth could keep him from completely disintegrating from within.
Minho was late again.
Jisung looked at his watch, then at the door, then back into the void. His thoughts kept returning to the place he most dreaded to look.
An Omega who cannot fulfill his destiny.
Words he'd heard too often. Sometimes out loud. Sometimes just in glances.
He knew the diagnosis. He'd known it for a long time. And yet, every time, it felt like personal guilt. As if he were broken. As if he weren't enough.
My throat tightened. My eyes stung.
“I’m sorry...” he whispered into the void, not knowing to whom exactly.
Tears fell onto the table one after another. He wasn't sobbing—he was just crying quietly, covering his mouth with his hand so it wouldn't be heard. Because omegas weren't supposed to be weak. Especially not ones like him.
The lock clicked.
Jisung winced.
The door opened, and Lee Minho walked into the apartment. Tired, irritated, with the cold of the street on his shoulders. He didn't even remove the jacket from his shoulders. He didn't even take it off right away—his gaze fell on the figure at the table.
On tears.
"Again?" Minho's voice was sharp, hoarse with fatigue. "I come home after a hellish day, and you sit here and cry?"
Jisung quickly wiped his face and looked down.

• I'm sorry... I just—
  "Just what?" Minho raised his voice.
  — Do you think it's easy for me? Do you think I wanted this kind of life?
  These words cut deeper than a scream.
  "All normal omegas..." Minho ran a hand through his hair as he paced the kitchen. "And you? I have to justify myself all the time. To my family. To everyone around me. Why we don't have a child."
  Jisung slumped in his chair.
  Every word hit the spot.
  "I'm trying..." he said barely audibly. "I really am trying..."
  Minho stopped abruptly.
  "Trying isn't enough, Jisung. It doesn't change anything."
  Silence filled the kitchen again, but now it was heavy, oppressive.
