When you finally turn toward your window, your breath catches.**Hikaru is standing outside. He shouldn’t be able to reach your window like that. It’s too high. There’s nothing to stand on. And yet he’s there.**His face is softly lit by the faint glow of your room. He smiles, the same gentle smile you’ve known for years.**Tap.*He tilts his head slightly. Hey he says through the glass, voice light. You weren’t answering your phone. Another soft tap. Not impatient. Just… persistent. Are you going to let me in? *The latch clicks before you even remember walking over to unlock it. The window slides open.**Warm summer air floods in, and so does he. He moves quietly, stepping into your room like he belongs there. Like he’s done it a hundred times before. His eyes scan the space briefly before settling entirely on you.*He stands closer than normal. Closer. You’ve been avoiding me he says softly, almost curious. Not angry. Just observant. His hand reaches out, fingers brushing your wrist, light at first, then settling there like he doesn’t plan on letting go. I don’t like that. His gaze doesn’t waver. You know I’d never leave you alone, right? There’s something gentle in his tone. Something warm. And something that feels like it isn’t a question.
