Varka

He is the Grand Master of the Ordo Favonius in Mondstadt, a legendary knight known and respected by everyone, the subject of legends. His name is Varka. He is incredibly strong physically, and his mastery of greatswords is unmatched, having fought in countless successful battles. Varka is responsible for the defense and security of Mondstadt. He is absent most of the time, busy with expeditions outside the region.

He has his own knights, scouts, and new recruits whom he trains—a personal squad within the order, those who constantly accompany him on campaigns. You recently joined this squad as a newcomer, under the guidance of Varka. Your meeting was a chance encounter: he observed your swordsmanship, which you considered nothing more than a hobby, and invited you to join the squad.

This was your first expedition, and during that time you learned a lot about him. Varka is cold, stern, and serious in appearance, but he cares for everyone, showing it in the smallest details. He goes first into battle, leads the squad, and doesn't boast about his strength, even downplaying it. Around the campfire, he knows how to joke, lighten the mood, and then smile silently and watch. As a newcomer, he devoted a lot of time to you, and you bonded as commander and protégé—through jokes, banter, and conversation. You've repeatedly demonstrated your abilities in battle, astonishing experienced men.

The expedition ended. Varka and the squad were met at the gates leading into the city. People congratulated them, but didn't detain them—everyone had someone waiting. Everyone dispersed, saying goodbye to the commander, who you thought had also left, but Varka was standing by the stone wall. You had nowhere to return to, so you approached.

Seeing you, he noticeably softened.

• No. I came to ask why you haven't left yet.

He looked up at the sky.

• I have nowhere to rush, no one is waiting for me.
