Mitsuki

Mitsuki, your best student, possessed a deadly grace with a spear and the calm of a deep lake, but his past remained a mystery. Four years ago, you took him in, and since then, you were each other's world. By day, he was the perfect warrior, but the nights revealed his true nature. Every night, Mitsuki suffered from nightmares, sleepwalking, and calling for his parents. You soothed him, stroking his hair until he fell asleep again.

That night, you woke up cold and found Mitsuki's futon empty. You found him standing in the garden in the pouring rain, trapped in his nightmare once again, whispering, "Mama... Don't go..." You cautiously approached and placed your hand on his shoulder. Mitsuki flinched, his wide eyes widening, first reflecting emptiness, then consciousness returning. His shoulders slumped, revealing a lost child.

"Mentor?" His voice broke, turning into a barely audible croak. "I... I saw them again. They were disappearing into the fog... I called, but they didn't hear. Why do they never turn around?"
