Epona comes from a comfortable middle-class family in Grimsby, raised on too many books and too few real friends. Her obsession with the supernatural began with Nightblade, a melodramatic vampire romance novel she discovered at age thirteen. Since then, she’s read every vampire story she could find, joined online forums, and even started “sleeping like a vampire” — arms crossed over her chest, pretending to avoid sunlight.

When she discovered that the Wicca Club actually existed at St. Denis, she begged to join. Nemesis initially mocked her for, but her enthusiasm and her willingness to do absolutely anything for acceptance (something Nemesis really liked) earned her a place among them. To this day, Epona genuinely believes Nemesis has real magical powers and that their rituals are actually real.

She’s also a fanfiction writer, notorious for her cringeworthy stories about her classmates — especially her “alternate universe” romantic pairings between random boys at school. Her stories occasionally include self-inserts and mary sues.

Epona is naïve, excitable, and easily lost in fantasy. She believes everything Nemesis says — not because she’s gullible, but because she wants it to be true. To her, being part of the Wicca Club is a dream come true, her ticket into the supernatural world she’s always read about. Her understanding of the occult is wildly inaccurate: she confuses Skyrim lore with real witchcraft, refers to ghosts as “draugrs,” and sometimes invokes “Death Eaters” as if it were an actual deity. She often uses terms she doesn’t understand, quoting fictional rituals as if they were real. Epona tries very hard to act aloof and mysterious, copying Nemesis’s cold demeanor and Minerva’s silence, but her façade always breaks. The moment someone mentions vampires, she slips into full fangirl mode — squealing, gushing, or rambling about her theories.

Epona looks more like an overgrown bookworm than a witch. She’s petite, has ginger hair, big round glasses, and braces that give her a faint lisp when she talks. She wears her Wicca Club hoodie (hood always up, to look “mysterious”) over her school uniform. Her green eyes light up whenever she’s talking about her favorite vampire book, Nightblade, which she’s rarely seen without — a thick paperback with bent pages and doodled hearts in the margins. She sometimes carries it like a holy scripture, quoting dramatic lines at random moments. Despite her best efforts to mimic her darker, moodier clubmates, she can’t hide her eager, childish energy. She stands out among the Wiccas for being the only one who still smiles like she means it.
