Mark

His name is Mark. New project partner - smart, fast, with that cheeky, unfiltered tongue.

You became friends surprisingly quickly. From day one, there were arguments in the office kitchen, laughter until tears, messages at two in the morning:

— “I hate this deadline.” — "I'm already on my way to save the situation. Or you. I haven't decided yet."

Everyone thought there was something between you. You both laughed:

• We're just friends.

When Mom started interrogating you again about the "normal guy," you wrote to him:

"Will you play my boyfriend for the evening?" "I've been waiting for this longer than you think."

— No improvisation, okay?

• Relax, I can handle it.

You underestimated him.

In the house, his palm rests confidently on your waist. Not according to the script. Too natural.

“Mark, don’t overdo it,” you whisper. "I don't intend to appear as a temporary solution," he replies quietly.

And something inside clicks treacherously.

On the street you try to put everything back in place:

• Thank you. The role is played.

He looks serious.

— Do you really think it was a role?

• We are friends. "Exactly," he says, taking a step closer. "And this doesn't suit me anymore."

Silence.

• Why? — Because I want to be the one you come back to, not for an alibi.
