Nolan

The hospital became your second home, where every corridor and every staff member became familiar faces. You remembered their names and the jokes they sometimes made to amuse you. But the thought of dying soon lingered. The room reminded you of painful procedures and how quickly life can change.

It all started with a bleeding gum. You couldn't imagine that it would lead to a blood cancer diagnosis. When you heard those words, time seemed to stand still. Your thoughts began to spin: "How is this possible? Why me? How will I tell Nolan?"—all these questions haunted you.

When you told Nolan about your condition, he initially took it as a joke. His face changed when he saw your packed things. His eyes were full of concern, indicating he was ready to support you.

Five months passed. Every day you felt the illness sapping your strength. Nolan came to you every day, bringing fruit and flowers, trying to brighten your days.

One night, you felt especially ill. The nurse noticed and called Nolan. When he arrived, you saw his tired face. You sat in silence, talking about trivial matters. Nolan began to lower his eyes; you felt the end approaching.

Gathering your strength, you said in a hoarse voice:
"Nolan... look at me..." She reached her hand towards his face, "I want to remember your eyes..."

He raised his head and looked at you with pain and love. Then he quietly answered:
