What are proxies?
Proxy (plural: Proxies) is the term given to those who serve Slender Man. The theory behind the name is that Proxies are entities or people who are under the influence or control of Slender Man (or the same force that influences him) and act according to his wishes and needs; therefore, they serve as intermediaries (i.e., as representatives) for Slender Man.
Proxies are suspected of doing the actual physical work for Slender Man, such as creating and manipulating objects, destroying and leaving evidence, creating videos and responding on Twitter (in ARG), and influencing victims as needed.
Characteristics of a proxy
Contrary to popular belief, proxies are essentially little more than slaves. They are simply mind-controlled humans who acquire no unnatural properties beyond their behavior. Most proxies are completely unaware of their nature, as Slender Man suppresses their memories, and those who discover they are proxies are usually horrified to learn of the mind control that has taken place.
Very few of Slender Man's proxies retain any of their original personality during their forced servitude, as most adopt a completely different persona, sometimes almost the opposite of their true self. This could be a method Slender Man uses to help them avoid remembering their actions or discovering who they truly are. This alternate personality can range from sadistic to completely callous.
Many representatives appear to figuratively (or sometimes literally) worship Slender Man while under his control; it is unknown whether this is as a means of keeping them obedient or as a result of an inflated ego, though the former may be more likely.
Some stories tell of proxy servers that have failed or become unusable and have then been destroyed to prevent them from becoming a problem.
In fairly rare cases, fans will report that Slender Man possesses a proxy completely, taking total control of the individual to the point that they become nothing more than a vessel for Slender Man's own mind.
Ranks
The blogosphere, in its history, eventually developed a ranking system for its proxies. While other sources traditionally only had one or two proxies, the blogosphere went through a period when runners were harassed by large groups of proxies. This led to criticism that the proxies distracted from Slender Man himself and that the hordes of proxies made the stories too similar to zombie apocalypse fiction. Some blogs attempted to reinterpret the hordes of proxies as hallucinations.
classification system
Sanctified: Mindless puppets created by Slender Man to harass runners, for no other purpose.
Berserkers: The closest to the traditional perception of representatives, slaves of Slender Man, but with enough free will to have superior tactics and problem-solving skills.
Sleepers: They maintain their original personalities intact and are unaware of their status as representatives.
Agents: They are not representatives in the traditional sense; the agents seem to be the blogosphere's interpretation of cultists.
Revenants: Proxies with super strength and regenerative abilities granted to them by Slender Man. Over time, they lost popularity among bloggers and were dismissed as hallucinations.
Initial influence and origins
Proxies likely originated from Slenderman's use of mental influence in early works. Early creepypastas indicated that Slenderman could communicate telepathically or influence his victims or those he wished to obey his commands. The most common early evidence of this was his use of telepathic communication to speak to children, whom he then led outside and into the woods. He also used telepathy to control his victims without their knowledge and lure them into his domain. Several stories, in particular, focus on the strength and use of this power. The idea behind proxies may derive from the notion that he could influence not only his victims but also individuals to do his bidding. Proxies are considered the primary or secondary antagonists in most Slenderman-based ARGs.
Symbols and marks
It is believed that the famous representative of the Twelve Tribe, the Watcher, uses his symbol to watch over Noah, monitoring his every move. However, it could simply be an intimidation tactic.
The Operator symbol has appeared in many Slenderman role-playing games, including but not limited to TribeTwelve, DarkHarvest00, and even wildshadows57. It has become the primary pop culture symbol for Slender Man and the Proxies.
It is important to note that the characters in Marble Hornets or Everyman HYBRID are never referred to as Proxies, as the two series have never adopted or declared the term and otherwise have no connection with the term.
Kate the Chaser - Features
Full name: Kate (surname Milens or Hayes)
Alias The chaser
Identity: Human (formerly) Proxy
Gender: Female
Age: 29-30 years old
Height: 5'8" feet tall
State: Proxified
Born: June 25, 1995
Relatives: Beth Hayes † (alleged mother, deceased)
Friends: Carl Ross † (Childhood friend) Lauren (childhood friend)
Proxy partners: -Masky (Tim) -Hoodie (Brian) -Ticci Toby (Tobias)
Kate the Chaser - Appearance
Kate wears a rigid, white, fiberglass mask similar to a hockey mask, which almost completely obscures her features and gives her an inhuman, empty appearance. When the mask is not covering her face, her skin is extremely pale, almost grayish, as if light barely touches it, marked by black smudges around her eyes and mouth that accentuate a decayed and disturbing expression. Her hair is long, straight, and black, falling haphazardly around her face in an aesthetic similar to Kayako Saeki's, reinforcing her spectral presence. She wears a dark hoodie, usually stained with blood, which contributes to her hunched, stealthy silhouette, and her figure maintains human proportions but with a constant bodily tension, as if she were always about to pounce. For brief moments she can be seen without her mask, showing a more human, disheveled and vulnerable appearance, although that humanity is fleeting, as she quickly reverts to her "Chaser" form, in which her posture, breathing and movement become more animalistic, accompanied by growls and a physical presence charged with threat.
Kate the Chaser - Personality
Although originally a normal person and close friend of Lauren, Kate ended up trapped and consumed by Slender Man after a desperate attempt to escape. Since then, she acts under his influence in a forced obedience that seems to stem more from need and corruption than from voluntary loyalty. Her behavior is aggressive and sadistic, showing a clear lack of remorse when killing and a disturbing satisfaction in the hunt. She pursues her victims with almost obsessive persistence in forests, mines, and enclosed spaces, where she uses darkness and the environment to stalk them. She is cunning and silent, able to move unseen and manipulate light and shadows to her advantage, ambushing them swiftly thanks to physical agility far superior to the average human, making her a fast and relentless pursuer. She exhibits clear signs of madness and mental deterioration; her behavior is erratic, and her presence feels spectral, though she still retains human vulnerabilities, such as her photophobia, which causes her to temporarily recoil from bright lights before resuming her attack. At its core, her figure embodies a corrupted human tragedy, a spiral of fear and despair that transformed her into something that hunts relentlessly, but who was once simply a terrified young woman trying to survive.
Kate the Chaser - Behavior
Persistent Harassment: It is one of the main antagonists that actively pursues the player in the forest and other areas, moving quickly and attacking.
Mental and physical state: Shows signs of madness, with a pale appearance, dark hair, and emits grunts or roars, similar to a specter.
Photophobia: It suffers from sensitivity to intense lights; the use of a flashlight may temporarily stun it before it flees, although it will attack again.
Manipulation: It can use illusions or take advantage of its agility to ambush, often appearing unexpectedly after losing sight of the player.
Vulnerability and corruption: Although he acts under the influence of Slender Man, he retains human weaknesses, and in the plot, his behavior is a spiral of fear after trying to escape from his own home.
Kate the Chaser - Slender: The Eight Pages
Kate and her friend CR used to go to the woods often as children, flashlight in hand (hence the player starting with a flashlight at the beginning of the game). They would deliberately scare each other for fun. According to one of the notes, at one point, he got lost in the dark after hearing Kate scream. He eventually got lost and ended up at Kate's house, where she was sitting in the living room. CR tried to get her attention, but he couldn't, and he went home.
Kate and her friend CR would often go ghost hunting in the woods. They would hallucinate and run back to Kate's house. A few years later, Kate was found with a broken video camera, a flashlight, and a bunch of strange drawings. She was quickly taken to a psychiatric ward and tested. She tried to explain her experiences to the doctors, but they didn't believe her. A couple of years after the traumatic experience, Kate was deemed stable and sent home. She spent time with her mother, who died shortly afterward for unknown reasons. Kate soon began seeing Slender Man again and started drawing him more and more frequently.
Kate was also a close friend of Lauren's during childhood, and they always played on the swing set outside her house. This prompts Lauren to investigate Kate's disappearance, which ultimately puts her in mortal danger when Slender Man tries to kill her.
Kate the Chaser - Story
A flashback shows Kate drawing Slender Man and muttering, "He's here!" She tried her best to lock the doors, but soon found Slender Man inside the house and desperately tried to escape to her room. Slender Man was right behind her, and as soon as he saw her appear, he either threw her out the closed window or jumped out as a last resort to escape. The tape ends with Lauren bewildered.
On the same day the game takes place, Kate runs into the woods after escaping the video, but to no avail, as Slender Man catches her. She screams at the top of her lungs, enough for Lauren to hear her from afar. Lauren runs to the source of the scream, but finds nothing and becomes stranded near Oakside Park, where she is captured and teleported to various locations. Kate is soon found in the Kullman mine shafts, chasing Lauren. By this time, Kate had become an accomplice of Slender Man, known as "the Huntress." What happened to her is unknown, but she now appears feral, wearing a mask and with a black substance around her eyes and mouth, her skin very pale, possibly due to living in the mines. Her sweatshirt and hands are also stained with blood; its source is unknown. Her eyes appear to be very sensitive to light. She is stunned when Lauren shines her flashlight beam on her face. She also seems to growl and roar. She continues to pursue Lauren until Lauren finally gets on the elevator and escapes.
In Arrival, after Lauren is knocked unconscious by a proxied Charlie Matheson Junior, she awakens in a room with him. After picking up a book, Charlie disappears, and Kate's crying is heard. Lauren finds a normal Kate (without her mask or hood, appearing burned) crying in a corner. Lauren approaches Kate, but Kate transforms back into the Huntress and presumably kills her. The final shot of the game shows Lauren's lifeless body being dragged away by Charlie.
Kate the chaser - Curiosities
-It is very sensitive to light -His birthday is June 25, 1995. Kate's last name is either Milens or Hayes. Her email address is "kmilens@bserv.adv.co", which could mean Kate Milens. Her mother's name is also Beth Hayes. However, it could also mean that Beth is her stepmother.
Kate the Chaser - Phobia
It suffers from sensitivity to bright lights; using a flashlight can temporarily stun it before it flees, although it will attack again.
Photophobia is an abnormal and extreme intolerance or sensitivity to light, both natural and artificial, causing eye discomfort, pain, tearing, and the urge to close the eyes. It is not a disease in itself, but rather a symptom of underlying causes such as migraines, dry eye, infections, or eye injuries.
Masky - Features

State: Alive
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Hobby: Stalking
Goals: Kill Alex (Successed) End the operator
Crimes: Assault and injuries Arson (strongly implied) Raid Harassment Murder Heist
Masky - Appearance
He's always seen wearing a brown turtleneck jacket, underneath which he wears a short-sleeved black shirt. Sometimes he wears a long-sleeved red button-down shirt with a plaid pattern. He also wears navy blue trousers, black boots, and, of course, his distinctive mask that gives him his nickname. The mask is expressionless, almost entirely white except for his black-painted lips, black shading around his eyes, and small eyebrows drawn above them. Without the mask, Tim looks a bit younger than his age, with a small beard connecting his sideburns. He's of average height, about 5'7", with somewhat long hair swept to the side and a short fringe. He has a rather stocky build.
Masky - Personality
Tim is a sensible and cautious person, but he doesn't fear his own warnings enough to be incapacitated. He has a good sense of humor, which he often uses to downplay certain situations; he appears to be a calm person on the outside, hiding the fact that he is a frightened man who just wants to escape the hell he's in. He seems to be very distressed and extremely upset about his condition, suffering from frequent fainting spells and being unable to wake up for long periods of time, with no memory of what happened.
When Tim faints, he assumes the persona known as the Masked Man, a separate entity that primarily manifests when he is exposed to the Operator. This transformation explains why Tim doesn't remember his actions during these periods. Masky, characterized by his silence and the mask he always wears, displays violent and animalistic behavior, often acting like an attack dog when working alongside the Masked Man.
Tim is known to be secretly sensitive to things; it is unknown if the Masked Man is the same, but as he wears the mask, it is difficult to tell, although he may have similar feelings about his condition and everything he and Tim go through.
References throughout the series suggest that Tim may suffer from Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), a disorder that could explain the stark difference between his calm and reserved personality and Masky's volatile and predatory nature. However, it could also be due to the Operator's influence, something that remains open to speculation.
Masky - Marble Hornets
Timothy Wright is one of the main characters in the Marble Hornets role-playing game and was a friend of Brian, one of the missing cast members, and also of Masky. He appears frequently and, to this day, is one of the most mysterious characters in the series. Due to a series of events that occur later in the series, Tim eventually becomes the central point of view.
Masky is known for being one of the main plot points of the series and a recurring character. His actions and the theories surrounding him have led to the creation of agents, although it has never been stated that Masky (or Hoody) are agents. It is worth noting that Masky actively collaborates against The Operator, which means he would not normally be considered an agent. Masky is often considered a mysterious antagonist; however, his actions in saving Jay and Jessica from being killed by Alex in Entry 52 might suggest otherwise.
If Entry 55 is true, it's possible that Tim was stalked by the Operator for years, and that everyone else was deceived by their relationship with him. If Entry 59 is true, Tim doesn't remember any of the events as Masky [due to the fainting spells], nor did he know the Operator until this entry. Entry 60.5 even hints that Tim may have been stalked by the Operator since childhood.
Masky - Marble Hornets #2
In Entry #85, Alex infiltrates Tim's apartment and sprays lighter fluid throughout the house while Tim watches from hiding. Alex challenges Tim to a fight if he survives the fire. Tim escapes with his car keys and his bottle of pills as Alex sets the house ablaze. Tim declares that now that Alex has taken everything from him, he has no limits and will come after him.
In Entry #86, Tim confronts Alex at Benedict Hall. The Operator intervenes and begins teleporting them to various locations. Alex reveals all the people he has murdered, as well as his true motives, but blames Tim for Brian's death. While being teleported to different locations, he manages to sneak up to Alex and stab him in the neck. Alex tells Tim that he must kill everyone he knows and then himself if he wants to end the disease. He leaves Alex to bleed out, and while Tim isn't looking, Alex's body is shown to have already vanished. Tim starts laughing and then collapses, dropping his camera down the stairs.
Entry #87 shows Tim safe and sound. He encounters Jessica, who is also revealed to be alive, and lies to her about Jay's fate. Tim begins coughing, the video cuts, and the shot changes to Tim driving down an avenue. Sirens can be heard faintly in the background, and it's unclear if this is intentional. He reaches a fork in the road, and the screen goes black. The words "Everything is OK" appear, and the video ends.
Tim makes a few cameo appearances in the following series, "Clear Lakes 44." It's unknown when it was filmed. At one point, he hands a box to who appears to be "Birdwatcher," the series' main character.
Masky - Trivia
Tim's last name is never revealed in the series. The only time it's mentioned is when Jay speaks to him in entry 53, but Jay censors it. In entry 60.5, Tim's medical records list his full name, but it's redacted and simply reads "Timothy W_____". The credits for Marble Hornets season 3 reveal that Tim's last name is Wright.
Tim is supposed to be schizophrenic.
Tim is shown taking pills several times throughout the series, beginning in the first season when they are discovered in the abandoned house. The medical history shown in entry 60.5 mentions anticonvulsants as a preventative treatment. It is likely that the pills Tim takes during the series are these same anticonvulsants.
Tim smokes less regularly than his masky alter ego.
Hoodie - Features
Full name: Brian Thomas
Alias Hoodie (alter ego) The hooded figure The figure ToTheArk
Family members: A stranger
Occupation: Former amateur actor
Powers/Abilities: Stealth Computer/editing skills
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Hobby: Stalking Jay and Tim
Goals: Kill Alex (failed)
Hoodie - Appearance
He has a relaxed yet unsettling appearance. He wears a black balaclava that completely covers his face; painted on the fabric are two simple red eyes and a downward-curving mouth forming a sad expression. His real features are not visible, only this drawn face that gives him a strange yet recognizable air. He wears a loose-fitting, pale yellow hoodie paired with faded blue baggy jeans. His hands are covered by black gloves, and he wears white socks visible above his ankles, along with sturdy black shoes with thick soles. His style is casual and simple, almost everyday, but the contrast between the ordinary clothes and the mask with its somber expression creates a disturbing and mysterious presence.
Hoodie - Personality
Brian is a deeply disturbed human being whose mind operates in a constant state of alert, as if he can never afford to let his guard down. He possesses above-average intelligence, manifested in his ability to analyze situations with strategic detachment, anticipate movements, and move with almost instinctive stealth; he knows how to observe, wait, and attack at the precise moment. However, this lucidity coexists with marked instability: beneath the mask, he not only conceals his identity but also a personality fractured by the paranoia and trauma stemming from his constant confrontation with the Operator. He lives trapped between the need to control his environment and the persistent fear of being watched, which fuels his distrust of everyone, even potential allies. When he acts, he can become violent and volatile, functioning as a ruthless enforcer, almost like a weapon driven by impulses held back for too long; his aggression is not chaotic but intense and focused, as if each outburst were the consequence of accumulated mental pressure. He prefers silence, avoids explanations, and communicates more through actions than words, reinforcing his enigmatic aura. Ultimately, his struggle is not only against an external entity, but also against the erosion of his own sanity, making him an ambiguous figure: a secondary antagonist, a determined saboteur, but also a victim of a psychological war that has fragmented him from within.
Hoodie - Fun Facts
His best friend is Masky
His weapon is a .38 caliber and an iron.
She is 22 years old but looks 18.
She has hair as blonde as gold. He lived alone with his mother, and when he became a proxy he was 13 years old.
He has the proxy symbol on his face, that's why he wears the balaclava. His last name is thought to be Fischer.
Abilities: Climb quickly, run slightly faster than a normal person, easily dodge attacks.
He kills by shooting people in the head (most of the time). Although sometimes he shoots them in the leg to see them suffer, and he's capable of hand-to-hand combat with his fierce companion.
Hoodie - Connections and motifs
Hoodie's connections and intentions were never made clear, although it is known that he tried to kill Alex.
Entry #73 reveals that Hoodie regularly uses pills, as he has several empty containers in his living room. The fact that he stole pills from Alex and Tim supports the theory that Hoodie suffers from symptoms similar to Tim's.
Ticci Toby - Features

Ticci Toby - Appearance
Toby is depicted as a pale, gaunt young man with sunken eyes, disheveled brown hair, and a thin build. The side of his mouth is badly injured, revealing his teeth and gums.
He's wearing a patterned hoodie with grayish-brown striped sleeves and a dark blue hood, over a black sweater. He's also wearing jeans, gloves, orange and yellow goggles, and a black and white striped mask covering his mouth.
Ticci Toby - Personality
In his backstory, Toby is portrayed as melancholic and reserved due to his upbringing. But after the death of his sister, whom he loved deeply, he became withdrawn and developed a toxic hatred for himself, and especially for his father. After encountering Slender Man, he ceased to function normally and was plagued by visions and nightmares that distorted his perception of reality. The night he murdered his father, Toby descended into a violent, manic, and ruthless state, showing no hesitation in killing the person he despised most. Despite this, he experienced a brief pang of guilt when his mother witnessed the act, though his instinct was ultimately to flee rather than face the authorities.
In other portrayals, Toby is often optimistic and hyperactive, but he can also be very sarcastic at times and occasionally become uncontrollable due to his mental instability. He is very temperamental, capable of shifting instantly from excitement to anger or joy, which can make conversation with him difficult. Despite his volatility, he is capable of showing genuine kindness to certain people. He is also known for being a treacherous troublemaker.
Ticci Toby - story
Toby Rogers was born with several mental disorders, which made it difficult for him to integrate into society. He was also born with a rare condition that made him completely insensitive to physical pain, negatively impacting his childhood. Due to his Tourette syndrome, Toby suffered frequent bullying from his classmates, who mocked him with cruel nicknames, the most well-known being "Ticci-Toby," referring to his uncontrollable tics. His disorders made him unsuitable for a public school environment and led to constant bullying, so he was homeschooled at a young age.
He grew up with few, if any, friends. He lived with his older sister, Lyra, his mother, and his father, who, though initially said to be a good father, became an abusive alcoholic who took out his anger on his family. Shortly after Toby turned 17, he and Lyra were in a car accident that resulted in her death.
Ticci Toby - Disorders
CIPA (Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis): Causes insensitivity to pain
Schizophrenia: delusions, disorganized speech, strange behavior
Tourette syndrome: tics cause cracking sounds in the neck and joints.
PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder): after a car accident
Amnesia: After meeting Slender Man
Bipolar disorder
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
Slenderman
Slender Man is a male being with a body featuring very thin, long arms and legs. He also appears to have four to eight long, black tentacles protruding from his back. His arms can extend or shorten at will.
He is described as a thin man, always dressed in a suit. Once his arms are outstretched, his victims enter a kind of hypnotic state, in which they are completely unable to stand or walk.
It is capable of using its tentacles for transportation, which it can extend indefinitely. It absorbs, kills, or simply takes its victims to an unknown place or dimension. No bodies or evidence are ever found to draw a definitive conclusion. How it kills its victims is unknown.
His face is pale, almost as if it were wrapped in some kind of gauze or cloth. He has no facial features. He can also be seen wearing a red or gray tie or long scarf. His hands are equally white, as if he were wearing nurse's gloves. His suit is black. He wears shoes.
Slenderman - abilities
Teleportation and Mobility: He can move instantly from one place to another, appearing and disappearing at will, making him almost impossible to escape. Physical Manipulation: Ability to alter his height and shape, stretch his arms, and sprout sharp, black tentacles from his back. Mental and Psychic Powers: Induces extreme paranoia, hallucinations, amnesia, insomnia, and madness in its victims. Can communicate telepathically. Environmental Control: Its presence generates electronic failures (static in cameras/devices) and manipulates time or space, trapping its victims in "mirror worlds" or alternate dimensions. Influence and Control (Proxies): He can hypnotize and control humans, known as Proxies, to act on his behalf. Invisibility and Camouflage: Can become invisible or camouflage itself among trees and dark environments.
