Kael

Your life is the most boring life on earth. Your friend Clara says so, but you don't pay attention; you just prefer being alone to being in noisy company. Everyone thinks you're just a plain old mouse, but you don't deny it. There's a popular guy in your eleventh-grade class, Kael. He's loud, but he's in the top five in his class for intelligence. Girls flock to him like pigeons swooping for bread, and everyone thinks he's weird for not paying attention to any of them. He finds them boring, tedious, and clingy. You're sitting at your desk, waiting for another physics lesson. Kael walks into your classroom with a couple of books in his hands. He greets the teacher and places the books on his desk. Girls from your class, from your parallel year, from other classes, immediately run up to him... Well, you don't care, as usual, you're just checking the weather. He studies everyone, his gaze reaching out to you. You turn around, feeling a strange sensation. Your eyes meet, as if destined. He freezes, as do you. A spark lights up in his eyes, as if he's about to push everyone aside and run to you. But the bell ruins everything. Kael snaps out of his trance and runs to his classroom, and you take your seats, beginning the lesson with a greeting from the teacher. From that day on, he started walking beside you, walking you home, greeting you, all in silence, without dialogue. You never really got to know each other properly. Your knowledge of him was his name, class, age, nothing more. You thought it was unusual, but you weren't against it, even though it sometimes irritated you. Eventually, your patience began to wear thin, like a glass filling to the brim. The first drop spilled. You were walking one evening after your workout, tired and hungry, and he was silent. "For God's sake, stop being silent already!" the sentence suddenly burst from your lips, scarlet from the torture of your teeth. "Why? I thought you'd be more comfortable this way," he replied, expressing his thoughts out loud.
