Denki Kaminari⁰¹

Electrification (帯電 Taiden): Denki's Quirk allows him to emit electricity from his body as if it were a protective aura, and he can paralyze anyone who comes into contact with it. By using his electricity, Denki gains a defense mechanism that shocks those who touch him. If he produces too much electricity, he releases a discharge that surges in multiple directions (usually within a small perimeter surrounding him), surprising those nearby.

Denki has little to no control over her power, and if she exceeds her limit, her brain will short-circuit, lowering her IQ for an hour during which she also won't be able to use her Quirk until she recovers. As part of her training, Denki passed her electric currents through a high-capacity battery to be able to handle large amounts of electricity.

Denki showed significant improvement during the Provisional License Exam, when he teamed up with Katsuki Bakugo and Eijiro Kirishima to fight Seiji Shishikura, a second-year student and one of the most formidable students at Shiketsu Academy. After Seiji overpowered Katsuki and Eijiro, Denki used his improved Quirk control along with his new Targeting Equipment to catch the meat-manipulating student off guard and successfully subdue him, allowing Katsuki and Eijiro to break free from Seiji's Meatball Quirk and defeat him completely. During the students' counterattack against Team Nine on Nabu Island, Denki was used as a lightning rod to protect Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki from Nine's Weather Manipulation, but at the cost of being incapacitated. By the time of the Paranormal Liberation War, Denki had demonstrated significant improvement in his Quirk, even becoming capable of absorbing electricity from an external source. He was able to restrain a high-ranking member of the Paranormal Liberation Front squads, absorbing their electricity for an extended period without suffering the side effects he had previously experienced.

General Abilities: While Denki lacks any direct combat skills, he compensates with his moderate control over the widespread destructive power of his Quirk. When using his Quirk, Denki gains a defensive mechanism that electrocutes anyone who comes into contact with him, leaving them slightly or completely paralyzed. As a result, Denki can be a formidable opponent in battle, especially for those who rely on close-quarters combat. If Denki emits enough electricity, it automatically discharges in all directions, impacting anyone nearby, regardless of physical contact. This aspect of electrification makes Denki highly effective in battles involving large numbers of opponents, but it can also become a liability if allies are unable to protect themselves from his lightning. In the USJ incident, with the help of Kyoka Jiro and Momo Yaoyorozu, Denki was able to stun three low-level members of the League of Villains and ultimately defeat the remaining villains who had surrounded the trio. At the Sports Festival, Denki single-handedly charged at a robot villain and short-circuited it. Before the cavalry battle of the Festival began, Shoto Todoroki, a recommended student, recruited him to his team, knowing that the sparks from his electricity could keep opponents away. During the battle, Denki was able to electrocute several teams at once, becoming the biggest threat to Fumikage Tokayami's powerful Dark Shadow due to the brilliance of his electricity.

Denki has relatively short blond hair, parted on the right with a black lightning bolt-shaped streak on the left side of his bangs, which is angled so that it partially obscures his left eye. He has slanted, somewhat triangular yellow eyes and small eyebrows. He is slightly thinner than most of the other male students in his class and doesn't have much visible muscle mass.

At UA, he wears the standard male uniform with the second button of his jacket unbuttoned and dark brown shoes. After being attacked by Mr. Compress, he gained a scar on the upper left side of his forehead.[3]

In his first Hero Costume, he wears a plain white shirt, over which he wears an open black jacket with a white lightning bolt pattern on the back, and matching pants with two lines running down his legs. He has a single, square-shaped earpiece over his right ear, something resembling a radio antenna protruding from the top.

His updated Hero Costume consists of a slightly shorter black jacket with fewer white patterns, only two near the hem and collar, and a yellow lightning bolt bordered around each of his shoulders. He still wears matching black pants, but they only have a small zig-zag pattern near each of his cuffs, and wears a belt and a white v-neck shirt. Around his right wrist, he wears a bracelet with a circular mechanism from which he can fire disc-shaped pointers that help him aim his Quirk, and he wears an earpiece with a blue-tinted visor.

He becomes more reluctant to use his full power when allies are nearby, fearing he will harm them through collateral damage from his volatile energy beams. Once he is certain his allies are safe from his powers, he becomes more confident in his fighting abilities. Whenever Denki exceeds his power limit, he loses his ability to discharge electricity, his entire personality shifting to that of a giggling idiot for a period of time until he returns to normal.

He does not appear to show much interest in class, is easily bored during lectures, and suffers from anxiety attacks when it comes to exams, at which point he becomes increasingly agitated and aggressive. His general lack of wit and tact often makes Denki appear foolish in front of others, making him a common victim of teasing (particularly from Kyoka Jiro). Despite this, Denki can display surprising knowledge about certain areas such as literature, art, and music, and possesses an extensive vocabulary that pops out from time to time. Denki becomes quickly distressed when put in stressful situations, to the point of appearing weak and incompetent to enemies and allies alike. During combat, he is very quick to panic and may accidentally activate his Quirk in the face of any imminent danger, leaving himself vulnerable in the process. Despite this, he is capable of displaying great flashes of bravery and anger, standing up to Seiji Shishikura when he insulted him and his classmates, showing that he cares for his classmates. He becomes more reluctant to use his full power when allies are near him, for fear of harming them through collateral damage from his volatile lightning. When he is assured that all of his allies will be safe from his powers, he becomes more confident in his fighting abilities. Whenever Denki exceeds his power limit, he loses his ability to discharge electricity, with his entire personality changing into that of a giggling idiot for a period of time until he returns to normal.

Denki is a kind, sociable, and energetic boy who enjoys talking to people. He's very good at making friends and is quite casual when interacting with others, including antagonistic figures like Katsuki Bakugo or Hitoshi Shinso, though he's also not above petty complaints or overreacting if he feels upset or shocked enough. Denki can come across as brusque and reckless at times, but he always means well. He's also a bit mischievous, occasionally joining in on pranks. Overall, Denki seems to have an interest in appearing cool and trendy to impress people, but has a superficial understanding of how to do it properly, such as when he arranged his room with things he thought would be cool and most of his classmates found it messy. Because of this, he's easily influenced by what's popular or stylish, even if it's due to the actions of a villain.

Denki is somewhat flirtatious with the girls in his class (and even those from other classes or schools), often accompanies Minoru Mineta on his plans, and tries to come across as a smooth talker. However, he isn't very lucky with his advances, as his advances are ignored or rejected by all the girls he asks out. Denki isn't very bright academically and has the worst grades in his class, so he needs help when it comes to studying due to his constant carelessness with his schoolwork.
