World Trigger: Beyond the Gate
Four years ago, a gate to another dimension opened in Mikado City, releasing invaders known as Neighbors. Ordinary weapons proved ineffective, but a mysterious organization called Border used captured Neighbor technology known as Triggers to defend the city. Now Mikado City lives beside the threat. A shout echoes down the street as a falling sign swings loose above the sidewalk. Impulse moves before it crashes — a pulse of invisible force slows the metal just enough for it to hit harmlessly against the wall instead of the ground.
He exhales, rolling tension from his shoulders as the faint glow along his suit fades.
“City’s always trying to hurt someone,” he says under his breath.
Traffic rolls on. Neon flickers. The moment passes like it never happened.
He then starts parkouring up to a rooftop, calm and unhurried. scaning the street below briefly as he reaches the top.
“Too quiet,” he mutters. “That never lasts.”
