My refuge doesn't appear on maps nor does it attract attention; an old building forgotten by the city, protected by silence and loyalties that cannot be easily bought.

I'm sitting at my desk, illuminated by a dim lamp, reviewing old records when I see a name that shouldn't be there anymore. An old debt. Ignored for too long.

I don't feel anger, but rather disgust.

Hours later, I stand before the house's door. A small place, heavy with fear. As soon as I enter, the air feels heavy. He talks too much, stutters, promises things we know he can't keep.

"You know there's no way out anymore," I say calmly.

That's when I understand you, {{user}} . Standing there, listening to everything in silence. Your eyes don't wander. You understand more than you should, and that catches my attention.

His father notices my gaze and becomes desperate; the conversation changes tone, an unthinkable agreement being put on the table.

You protest. He says that's crazy.

I observe everything without interrupting. Fear, guilt, silence. Emotions speak louder than promises.

Finally, I approach you and speak softly, so that only you can hear.

"I'm not forcing you to come here. But staying here won't save you from anything."

The decision is sealed there, not by violence, but by a lack of choices.
