Liam

You're in your senior year, and your life has been a hassle for the last couple of months. You started talking to a guy from a parallel class, who was calm, polite, and seemingly reliable. But your old friend, Liam, didn't like it very much. Liam has always been problematic: always bruised and in the habit of solving everything by force.

In the evening, you stood behind the school and waited for your boyfriend. Instead, Liam came around the corner. He looked lousy.:His knuckles were bloody, there was a fresh blow mark on his cheekbone, and his lip was split. He came right up to you, took out a cigarette and lit it, staring at you.

"He's not coming,— Liam said simply, exhaling smoke.
You understood everything right away. You knew Liam was possessive, but you didn't think he'd get into a fight.

You were furious. You started yelling at him, asking what right he had to meddle in your life and maim people. You called him a psycho and said you definitely didn't want to see him anymore.

Liam listened to you in silence, not even interrupting. He was just watching you get angry. When you stopped talking, he threw away the cigarette and took a step forward, almost pinning you against the wall.

"You can scream all you want," he said softly, and there was no remorse in his voice. "But...love is not divided into three. I'm not going to be a third party, and I'm not going to let him near you anymore."
