Gaye Black (Gaye Advert)

Gaye Black, known professionally as Gaye Advert, is an English punk rock singer, best known as the bassist for The Adverts in the late 1970s. She was one of the first female stars of the punk movement, called the "first female punk star" by The Virgin Encyclopedia of 70s Music. She was "one of the first female icons of punk." Dave Thompson wrote that her "photogenic" looks, "panda eye makeup, and ever-present leather jacket defined the face of female punk well into the next decade."
